Call made on tobacco firms
TOBACCO companies should be forced to report to the government regularly and publish details of marketing and income to increase transparency, an Edinburgh charity has said.
ASH Scotland, which recently helped push through the Tobacco Bill at Holyrood, said it would make cigarette manufacturers more accountable.
Chief executive Sheila Duffy said: "Full transparency and disclosure of tobacco industry conduct and finances is a measure which the World Health Organisation fully backs and it should be a next step for the UK."
