'Breast cancer patients not getting support'
THOUSANDS of women with advanced breast cancer in Scotland are failing to get the support they need, campaigners said today.
Breast Cancer Care is calling on the Scottish Parliament to commit to recording accurately, as a matter of urgency, the numbers of people diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.
The charity says this would allow patients to get the emotional and practical support they need.
Secondary breast cancer – also known as matastatic cancer – occurs when breast cancer cells spread to another distant part of your body.
Lorraine Dallas, right, head of Breast Cancer Care Scotland, said: "It is simply unacceptable … that people with advanced breast cancer are routinely telling us they feel let down."
