Alcohol price plan facing vote defeat

CONTROVERSIAL plans for a minimum alcohol price face defeat in a key Holyrood vote today.

The Scottish Government's Alcohol Bill, which contains a raft of measures to tackle Scotland's problems with drink, was set to come before MSPs, and they were set to vote on a Tory amendment calling on the government to ditch minimum pricing.

The main opposition parties at Holyrood have already declared their opposition to the plans for a minimum price, and have the voting muscle in parliament to reject them.
