Clare Queen feeling confident about Tour card bid

CLARE Queen is hoping her renewed confidence can keep her in contention in the final two rounds of the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School at La Manga.

The 27-year-old, who made the cut in only two out of 14 events this year, is lying in a tie for ninth after a third-round 77 in testing conditions in Murcia.

"I feel my game is good and I'm playing pretty solid. I just need to stay patient really," said Queen, who finished in the top 50 on the LET money-list in both 2007 and 2008.

"I let my expectations get on top of me last year and beat myself up when things weren't happening and lost a lot of confidence. This year I didn't manage to turn it around early enough but in the last three or four months I've been working hard.

"My coach, Ian Rae, is always reminding me how good I am. He believes in me, so it's nice to have that behind you."

Carly Booth is seven shots behind her compatriot after a 78 put her on 11-over after 54 holes, with Pamela Feggans (81) and Heather MacRae (78) both having their work cut out to survive tonight's four-round cut on 14-over and 16-over respectively.

Caroline Hedwall continued to be in a class of her own, the 21-year-old Swede carding an excellent one-under 72 in the strong winds yesterday to open up a six-stroke lead over the rest of the field.
