Hands-on visit for Harry

Prince Harry met troops trained to guard soldiers against chemical attack when he visited RAF Honington near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, yesterday.

He clambered aboard an armoured carrier the experts use to detect deadly gases and was briefed on its capabilities by Staff Sergeant Alfie Paterson, 36, from Glasgow, a member of the Joint Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Regiment, based at Honington.

The prince, Honorary Air Commandant of the base, also met servicemen's wives and officially opened a new mess during his visit.
