Hairdresser and bank told to remove signs

A HAIRDRESSER and a Princes Street bank have lost their battle to keep their signs outside their businesses after councillors ruled they should be taken down.

The firms fell foul of city officials who said the signs broke planning rules. They recommended Kenneth Lynch should be told to remove timber and metal signs from his A-listed salon in the New Town following a complaint. Banking giant HSBC wa also called to account over "excessive" signs that cause a "visual clutter".

Mr Lynch, who runs Kenneth Kim on North St Andrew Street, put the signs up ten years ago.
