Gun fanatic bought £20,000 of weapons on mum's credit card
A GUN lover spent £20,000 buying weapons over the internet, using his mum's credit card a court heard.
Ex-public schoolboy Ramsay Scott also trawled websites linked to the 1987 Hungerford massacre and other shootings.
Police found 1400 "hits" on his computer relating to websites depicting "extreme violence" such as executions or suicides.
Scott, 20, was expecting to be jailed yesterday after admitting breaches of the Firearms Act which carry a minimum sentence of five years in prison, but Judge Lord Uist called for further background reports after hearing that Scott might be suffering from Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism.
An earlier hearing was told police staged a dawn raid on Scott's home at Gosford Road, Longniddry, East Lothian. They found two fully-assembled pistols, and sub-machine gun parts.
Solicitor advocate David Taylor insisted at a previous hearing that Scott's fascination with guns had no "sinister hue".
The lawyer said Scott's mum knew he was using her credit card, but thought his purchases were legitimate.
Scott is due back in court in March.
