Guard in sex discrimination claim over hair
A FORMER guard has taken a leading Glasgow hotel to a tribunal, claiming his long hair made him the victim of sex discrimination.
Michael Klein, 39 claims the hotel's management asked him to cut his hair and wear it in a bun on duty at the Hilton Glasgow.
The 39-year-old said a female colleague was not required to tie up her long hair and claims he was singled out on account of his gender. Mr Klein was employed as a security officer at the hotel from December 2006 to July 2007.
The chain, Stakis Ltd, trading as Hilton Glasgow, denied Mr Klein was discriminated against, and said his hair was not a factor.
The tribunal will issue its judgment at a later date.
