Funding appeal as Jay nears £40k target for life-changing surgery

A BOY who needs life-changing surgery in the US to be able to walk is only £5000 off his funding target.

Four-year-old Jay Johnson, from Dalkeith, has cerebral palsy, which leaves him wheelchair-bound.

His parents, Sandra and Paul, desperately want to give him every chance in life, and earlier this year launched a £40,000 funding drive to secure an intricate spinal procedure.

The flights are booked and accommodation sorted, but if the remaining sum cannot be sourced before September 8, the operation will have to be cancelled.

Mrs Johnson said: “Everything’s in place, we just really need to get this last bit to get us over the line.

“I really hope it is possible. Everyone’s been so supportive.”

A car boot sale will take place on August 28 at McSence business park in Dalkeith to raise funds. To donate a special bank account has been created to which anyone can contribute. Its sort code is 83-17-26 and the account number is 00686773.
