GPs to show healthy respect
A PROJECT which aims to treat patients with more dignity and respect is to be rolled out to GPs and dentists across the Lothians.
It is an extension of the scheme which promoted a more compassionate and sensitive approach in hospitals.
Health chiefs want to make sure a person's healthcare experience isn't simply about the clinical outcome, and that they feel valued and comfortable.
The five-year plan will include doctors, dentists, physios and pharmacists.
Health secretary Nicola Sturgeon said: "Primary care will make a huge contribution to making the Quality Strategy a reality throughout Scotland's NHS.
"Primary care accounts for more than 90 per cent of all patient contact with the NHS, so it is absolutely right that it is at the forefront of introducing the strategy.
"I am delighted that all the professionals who deliver healthcare in community settings are supporting this plan as it is only with their support that it can be achieved."
