Gordon Brown 'neglect' of armed forces
PRIME Minister Gordon Brown was accused yesterday of showing an "instinctive lack of interest" in the armed forces, which has resulted in defence and security being run "on a wing and a prayer".
The Tories accused the government of a "long litany of failures" which have left personnel under-equipped and undervalued.
Shadow defence secretary Liam Fox said the Prime Minister was "never willing to fully fund Tony Blair's wars".
But Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth insisted that spending on defence had grown in real terms.
