A GOLDEN retriever pup from Glasgow is to become Scotland’s first “ambassadog”, beating 200 pooches to the prize.

The VisitScotland-run competition selected George, a one-year-old, as the dog that best represents Scotland.

The golden retriever, nominated by twins Emma and Victoria Rae, will now be part of the national tourism board’s social media campaigns.

He will also attend red carpet events, according to VisitScotland.

Described as “a loveable, energetic pup with a big heart,” George is already something of a celebrity – he has 15,400 followers on his Instagram, @golden_george_.
