Glamorous bras set scene on walk

Thousands of women took to the streets in their bras for this year's Moulin Rouge-themed MoonWalk.

The women walked through the centre of Edinburgh overnight on Saturday, covering the distance of a marathon for the event, which raises millions for breast cancer research and treatment.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in some parts of the Capital and diversions were in place for an event which is fast becoming one of the best-attended on Edinburgh's calendar.

Buildings like Edinburgh Castle, the Balmoral and the Royal Bank of Scotland head office were lit up in pink as a show of support, while some men also took part to show their solidarity with women who have fought the disease.

Rain did persist for much of the lead up to the walk, but organisers praised participants for their commitment to the event, which has now been running for several years.

Founder and chief executive of Walk the Walk, the charity which organises the MoonWalk, Nina Barough said: "It has been an absolutely amazing night.

"I don't think there has been another MoonWalk where I have seen so many people with such glorious bras.

"Everybody in Scotland, and this includes all of those who have travelled far and wide, are totally supportive and committed to what we are doing."
