Former zoo star Jodie the panda dies

A RED panda who had a spell at Edinburgh Zoo has been put down at her Highland home.

Staff at the Highland Wildlife Park, near Kincraig, said Jodie had been having trouble breathing and keeping her balance. She lived in the Capital in 2008 and had been alone since her partner, Babu, died.

In a statement, the park said: “Sadly on Monday afternoon we had to put Jodie, our red panda, to sleep.

“She had a third episode of losing balance, with laboured breathing, and we didn’t want her to suffer any more.

“She has always been a firm favourite with staff and visitors to the zoo and wildlife park.”
