George Pitcher's Southside favourites
George Pitcher, 80, former chairman of the Southside Association, picks his top five things about the Southside.
1 The buzz I don't know if it's the students, the buses, or the people, the Southside has this indefinable buzz.
2 The people Every area's most valuable asset is its people and the people of the Southside are fighters.
3 The view Not many people can get a view of Arthur's Seat, The Crags and the Forth over their breakfast.
4 The students People blame them for every problem, but most of the efforts to integrate have come from the students.
5 The School of Informatics They came in for a lot of stick when they moved to Appleton Tower, but they involved locals in the process.
