Royal 'favourite' seeks NTS role

THE architect said to be Prince Charles's favourite is seeking election as a trustee of the National Trust for Scotland.

Ben Tindall is one of 46 candidates for the ten places on the new, streamlined board of the NTS, which has been hit by falling income. He has been proposed by Green MSP Robin Harper and former Labour MP Sir Tam Dalyell in an election which will take place among the trust's 310,000 members in February.

Tindall has worked with Prince Charles on several projects and designed the Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyrood House.

Tindall, who says he has been a member of the NTS for 37 years, is a founder of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in Scotland and a founder member of the John Muir Trust.

"I am keen to contribute my governance experience to the implementation of the review recommendations and in particular to the development of a strategic plan and effective risk management procedures," says Tindall in his election statement.
