Gang projects win cash share
FIVE projects in the Lothians are to share in special funding from the Scottish Government to tackle gang culture.
More than 10,000 will go towards a scheme running 12 workshops in Leith for local youngsters. Tradesmen will also "mentor" troubled youths in a bid to wean them off violence and into work.
In West Lothian a similar workshop will go ahead at a cost of 4000 and another 4000 will be poured into a confidence building scheme to be run in the city centre.
A week's residential course will take place in Roseburn for young people as part of the Holyrood initiative to reduce crime long-term and 2500 will be spent on teaching youngsters how to build mountain bikes from scratch.
