Game review: Yoostar 2

Like Microsoft's karaoke party game Lips, Yoostar 2 for Kinect brings friends and family together for a good laugh, and the occasional bout of excruciating embarrassment.

The game lets players act out their favourite scenes from some of the best loved movies of all time, including The Terminator, The Blues Brothers and The Silence of the Lambs.

Using the Kinect camera to make it look like you're actually in the scene, the aim is to follow on-screen prompts and script lines to perfectly re-enact the scene at hand. Bonus points are scored for improvised lines and body movement, but players should be mindful that once their take is over, it gets replayed for all to see.

There are more than 50 scenes to choose from, each with varying complexity.

You can tackle scenes in the core challenge mode, or create a party play list of your favourite scenes to perform with friends.

Although there is a wealth of set-pieces on offer, you can also download extra moments from the online store, which is filling up with new content fast.

While it's available on both PS3 and Xbox 360, using the PlayStation Eye camera and Kinect respectively, neither version outdoes the other.

It's quite a feat that the developer has managed to slot the player so seamlessly into each scene in both versions, but they've managed it perfectly.

As a group activity for when you have friends round, this is a genuine riot, easily up there with other karaoke games.
