Joyce McMillan (Perspective, 28 June) is correct in quoting Joe Strummer, that the future is unwritten (in relation to an independent Scotland), ie we can make of it what we will.
However, according to Joyce, this only seems to apply to Scotland, and not to Britain. The future of the UK is also unwritten, and we can make of this what we will.
To break the Union because you don’t like the current bunch of politicians is shortsighted in the extreme; history shows us the UK is capable of great radical change.
