Funny side of life on the edge
Andrew Maxwell's Supernatural, **** Pleasance Courtyard IT would appear that when Andrew Maxwell is not performing stand-up, he gets himself into increasingly bizarre and dangerous situations, from which he then escapes through a mixture of sheer charm and quick-thinking.
These include a near-disastrous gig in one of Ireland's maximum security prisons, attempting to negotiate a performance with the UDA and numerous drunken misadventures in LA.
You may worry for Maxwell's safety, but his approach is a hit with audiences. With a reputation as one of the Fringe's hottest young performers, it's a challenge to live up to the hype night after night. However, despite a mammoth hangover, he still manages to have the entire audience laughing from the offset when he announces that he was out drinking with none other than Catchphrase's Roy Walker.
With a talent for improvisation and an audience he effortlessly holds in thrall, it looks highly unlikely that anything will stop the Irishman from having another sell-out run this year.
