Funding boost for mental health project
A RANGE of health initiatives is to be launched in the east of the city after a charity received Scottish Government funding.
The Thistle Foundation, based in Midlothian, will now be able to run the wellbeing projects in areas such as Niddrie and Craigmillar. The main aim of the scheme is to improve people's mental health through increased physical exercise and improved diet.
People identified as isolated and those with complex needs will be the subject of help.
Diane Paton, chief executive, said: "This funding will allow us to continue our work."
The charity has green space at its HQ, between Craigmillar and Midlothian, and wants to take advantage of that area to improve health.
