In response to Paul Brownsey (Letters, October 21), under socialism, there is no private property and the implementation of Marxist socialism requires confiscation by the state of the entire economy.

Given that Marx explicitly called for “despotic inroads on the rights of property”, it is entirely correct to conclude that Marxism is totalitarian in nature and must be rejected for precisely that reason.
