Frozen embryos get another five years

WOMEN whose embryos were due to be destroyed in the next few weeks will now be able to extend the time they are kept.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 comes into force on 1 October and allows embryos to be stored for a decade, rather than five years.

Women whose embryos were to be destroyed will be able to take advantage of the new law after a provision was made.
