• ENCOURAGING school links and sharing good practice are among the aims of the Scottish Borders Secondary School Conference that takes place in Hawick tomorrow.
Run by Scottish Borders Council, the Curriculum for Excellence and the Scottish Government, the event will bring together delegates from eight of the nine secondary schools in the region.
• SCHOOL pupils in the North-east will be given the opportunity to meet people from some of the top universities in the UK this week at the Grampian Higher Education Convention.
The event, held at Aberdeen University, will see representatives of more than 40 universities offer advice and information to pupils from every secondary school in Grampian.
Talks on student finance and the UCAS entry scheme will also be held at the convention, which takes place on Thursday and Friday. For further information, visit www.abdn.ac.uk.
• INTRODUCING older people to computing and technology is the aim of a series of events being run by the school of computing at Dundee University next week.

The sessions begin at the university's Queen Mother Building on 22 September and continue on 24 September. For further information, visit www.dundee.ac.uk.
