French restaurant is Scotland's favourite
A RESTAURANT specialising in the cuisine of the south of France has been named Scotland's favourite.
La Garrigue, in Jeffrey Street, Edinburgh, was regional winner of the Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year. More than 25,000 diners nominated their favourite restaurants pubs and cafs around the UK.
La Garrigue's owner and chef, Jean-Michel Gauffre, said: "It feels fantastic to win this award. We've faced some difficult times recently, but the support and hard work of all the staff has made a real difference. Being recognised is a boost for the whole team at La Garrigue."
Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of the Good Food Guide, said: "It's so exciting to find culinary gems that go the extra mile for their customers, and La Garrigue is no exception. Jean-Michel Gauffre presents his native dishes in an informal setting, and the rustic cooking suits the tone of the place and draws a loyal following."
The ten regional winners go head to head for the title of the Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year at the annual Which? awards in London on 19 May.
