Forth Road Bridge traffic levels on rise
TRAFFIC levels on the Forth Road Bridge are continuing to grow, according to figures released by its operator.
The Forth Estuary Transport Authority said there had been an "underlying growth in traffic" on the bridge in recent years, despite last year's winter weather causing an overall fall.
The total number of vehicle crossings recorded during 2010 was 23,739,120, a decrease of 1.1 per cent compared with 2006.
However, November and December 2010 saw the worst winter weather in the 46-year history of the Forth Road Bridge. If figures for these months were excluded from the comparison, there would have been a rise in traffic of 1.95 per cent between 2006 and 2010.
