Forth Ports vows to stick with 'Edinburgh Harbour' name
FORTH Ports said it will keep the name "Edinburgh Harbour" for the redevelopment of part of the Leith docks area, despite mounting opposition from locals.
At a meeting on Tuesday residents and community leaders said the plans were "deeply disappointing" and fail to reflect Leith's identity and heritage.
But developer Forth Ports says that the "Edinburgh" name is essential for attracting overseas investment.
Forth Ports has applied for outline planning permission for developing the area around Ocean Terminal. The first two of nine "urban villages" will include 1870 new homes.
