Forth Ports profits surge by a third in first half of year
THE company behind plans to regenerate Leith Docks has seen profits surge by almost a third so far this year.
Forth Ports said pre-tax profits climbed by 29 per cent to 16 million in the six months to the end of June.
The Edinburgh-based firm said it continues to work with the city council on an innovative "tax incremental financing" model that would see the authority borrow against future business rates to fund infrastructure work, but the plan still requires Scottish Government approval.
It confirmed that it intends to submit its biomass plant plans to the Scottish Government soon.
Charles Hammond, chief executive at Forth Ports, said: "The projects to build shareholder value are proceeding well and we look forward to a good performance for the remainder of 2010 and beyond."
He added that he expects the firm to enjoy a successful year ahead.
