Bill Rennie (Letters, 17 July) struck a chord. If he goes to the National Museum of Scotland, he’ll find more errors.
Visiting the otherwise fascinating exhibition about Mary Queen of Scots, my husband and I were amazed to find basic errors in the display: “formally” instead of “formerly” and “depostion” instead of “deposition”.
I thought that might be a technical term I’d not come across before, but the curator didn’t seem to think so when I asked. Our hotel brochure has got that old favourite: “there” instead of “their”. Keep complaining, Bill, there are thousands of us with you!
