Former bishop Holloway is announced as guest director of Book Festival
RICHARD HOLLOWAY, the controversial former Bishop of Edinburgh and Chairman of the Scottish Arts Council, is to act as guest director at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival.
He has stepped in for regular director Catherine Lockerbie, who is currently on medical leave, and will be involved with the development of the 2009 programme.
He will also chair a series of events in Charlotte Square, with details to be announced in June.
Mr Holloway is the author of 28 books, including Godless Morality, Doubts and Loves, and Looking in the Distance.
This year's festival will run from August 15-31.
