DETECTIVES hunting a masked robber who threatened a shop assistant with a spirit bottle during a raid on a Co-op in Angus today released CCTV images of man they are seeking as part of their investigation.

The robber escaped with over £100 in cash from the till following the robbery at the Co-op store in Dundee Road, Forfar, on Sunday, 3 November.

The man, who had been seen acting suspiciously in the store before the robbery, vaulted the counter and threatened the 25 year-old female member of staff with a spirit bottle, before demanding that she open the till.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said that detectives investigating the raid were releasing the CCTV images in a bid to identify a man who was in the store at the time of the incident.

He said: “Officers want to trace a man who was in the store at the time of the incident and who can be seen in the CCTV images. He is seen wearing a blue hat and a blue scarf, a dark-coloured jacket, grey trousers or tracksuit bottoms and red trainers with white laces and white trim.

“Anyone who knows who this man is or who has information that could assist enquiries should call Tayside Division on 101, or speak to any officer. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
