Footballer hurt in ambush
A SOLDIER who plays football for a Scottish senior club is receiving treatment after being caught in a roadside ambush while on duty in Afghanistan.
David Etale, who turns out for Edinburgh side Spartans FC, was injured with two fellow soldiers during an incident.
It is understood that Mr Etale, 24, who is stationed at Redford barracks in Edinburgh with the 3 Rifles battalion, was not seriously hurt during the attack and has received treatment.
Mr Etale, came to Scotland 18 months ago when he left Kenya to join the British Army.
A statement on Spartans FC website last night confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening and that he would be flown back to an Army hospital in England during the coming week.
