Food news: Lessons in food at city school

THE Edinburgh School of Food & Wine is all-go at the moment, with its diploma course running at full speed and three full Saturday classes already held.

And for anyone with vouchers to redeem, it is holding plenty of great courses in the coming weeks. These include: French Cookery – February 23; Scotch Beef (with QMS) – March 2; Entertaining with Style – April 27; and Thai – May 4. The school is also offering a 20 per cent discount for people signing up. Call 0131- 333 5001.

• Scotland rugby fans confident of the team’s success against Ireland tomorrow could get to eat for free if they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is. Steak Edinburgh are showing all of the Scotland home and away matches and are giving diners the chance to eat for free on Sunday – if the first scoring play is a Scottish try.

If that happens, diners will be given a refund on their food bill when dining from the pre-match brunch menu prior to kick-off between 11am and 2.30pm.
