Flats blaze deliberate
A FIRE which led to the evacuation of residents from a block of flats in the Capital is being treated as deliberate.
As reported in the Evening News yesterday, around 40 residents at Salamander Court in Leith had to be taken to safety after the alarm was raised at 3am yesterday.
Firefighters used four appliances and one specialist height appliance to tackle the fire.
A number of large plastic bins were found to be alight in the store which is located underneath the properties.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "We are treating the fire as deliberate, and are appealing for any witnesses to contact police."
