Five charged after drugs found in raids

POLICE have charged three men and two women with drug offences after recovering heroin worth more than £6500 during raids.

Officers seized a quantity of heroin, Valium and diazepam, along with almost £6000 in cash, after searching three properties in the Wester Hailes and Sighthill areas on Wednesday.

Three men, aged 35, 37 and 40, and two women, aged 38 and 39, were charged in connection with drug offences, and were all due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “These seizures were a direct result of local people coming forward and giving us information.

“We would encourage anyone who suspects anyone of profiting from crime in their community to contact us.”

Going directly to your local police isn't the only way to supply information about criminals. You can always call Crimestoppers, or contact them online; they will never ask your name or record your call. Their promise of anonymity has never been broken.

I don't think #1 is condoning drug offences. What he means is that life would be very dangerous for any local in Wester HailesSighthillCalders if their names became public knowledge to those criminals. #Xena - Not wise if you live in the area - I know it well.

Excellent news! People are getting fed up watching these people profiting from misery and living the good life on benefits. I would certainly tell the police if I knew of someone selling drugs.

Wouldnt like to be the local person coming forward with information. These people always end up getting found out somehow or another. Wouldnt trust the police, your best keeping your mouth shut.
