• MUSIC: GARY Numan. One of Numan’s first ever gigs in the Capital was at The Playhouse on September 27, 1980. The 54-year-old is back, four decades on, to visit the HMV Picture House, where fans can be sure of another top-notch show from this still relevant synth pioneer. On his last visit to the Lothian Road venue, back in 2009, Numan gave a commanding performance to a sell-out crowd, earning himself a five-star review in the following day’s Evening News. Then, he was celebrating the 30th anniversary of his seminal album The Pleasure Principle. Tomorrow’s gig will feature brand new songs from the forthcoming Splinter album (due next year), plus reworked versions of tracks from last year’s Dead Son Rising.

Despite trailblazing hits like Are Friends Electric? and Cars, the music press never really gave Numan his due in his early days. In recent years, however, he’s come to be regarded as one of the most influential artists around, having helped to create a new genre of music – electronica or synth-pop. • COMEDY: Wicked Wenches. Resident host Jojo Sutherland puts the funny women through their paces with a mix of circuit headliners and newcomers guaranteeing variety on every bill. With Janey Godley, Wendy Wason, Tania Edwards and Sarah Short. The Stand, York Place, 8.30pm, £6 (£5), 0131-558 7272

• THEATRE: Soul Sister. This new musical is inspired by the life and times of Ike and Tina Turner and features all the classic Tina Turner hits, including: ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’, ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Private Dancer’, ‘River Deep Mountain High’ and of course ‘Simply The Best’, as well as many more. • PANTO: Mother Goose Mother. Goose returns to the King’s Theatre and it’s a golden egg of a show. Staged by the same team behind the theatre’s recent record-breaking pants, Mother Goose is well worth a gander! The King’s, Leven Street, various times and prices, 0131-529 6000
