Armed police arrested five men in connection with a shooting that left two brothers injured in what is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.
They were arrested in connection with the shooting of men aged 47 and 46 at a house in Gloucester last Tuesday, Gloucestershire Police said yesterday.
The 46-year-old victim remains in hospital with a serious arm injury, while his sibling has been discharged, a force spokesman said.
He said: “Three Gloucester men aged 29, 26 and 21, a 27-year-old man from Cheltenham and an 18-year-old man of no fixed abode were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody at this time.”
The brothers were shot through the front door of a house in Gloucester shortly before 4am on Tuesday.
On Friday, Detective Chief Inspector David Sellwood said: “This was an awful attack on two completely innocent people that could very easily have been fatal.”
