Fisherman's body recovered from North Sea

THE body of a Filipino fisherman, missing since he fell overboard from a trawler last Wednesday, has been recovered from the North Sea by his fellow crew-mates.

The 28-year-old, who was not wearing a life jacket, had been lost overboard while working on the deck of the Macduff-based squid trawler Osprey III.

The boat had been fishing five miles off Macduff when the accident happened.

The body of the missing man was found by the crew of the Osprey III on Wednesday night, seven miles off the coast of Macduff.

The crew were said to have been left "traumatised" by the grim discovery.

The Filipino fisherman has still to be named and the body has still to be formally identified by Grampian Police.

Meanwhile, the Arbroath fisherman who died on Wednesday after falling overboard from a lobster boat off the Angus coast has been named as Raymond Davidson, 52.

Mr Davidson was pulled back on board the Arbroath-based Optik after being in the water off the Bell Rock for about five minutes and was airlifted by helicopter to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he later died.
