Firms' plea over 414% rate rises
BUSINESS leaders have urged the Scottish Government to help firms who have been hit with rates rises.
Liz Cameron, the chief executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said: "Many of our members have been hit hard by increases in their rates bills of up to 414 per cent this year as a result of revaluation.
Even for small businesses, this can mean having to find an extra 10,000 or more."
First Minister Alex Salmond insisted that the majority, "60 per cent", of businesses would be better off or no worse off as a result of the revaluation.
