Firm to guard against more snowfalls

SCOTTISH Widows is said to be preparing to spend £600,000 on snow guards to prevent a repeat of the avalanche at its Edinburgh headquarters.

A YouTube clip shows staff running to escape a mass of snow which slid off the roof of the offices in Port Hamilton.

One person was knocked off his feet and engulfed in snow.

Now the company is understood to be planning to install snow guards to the building, which was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1998.
