Firefighters in safety call

FIREFIGHTERS are to visit the Sick Kids hospital to raise awareness over firework safety.

NHS Lothian health chiefs are concerned about the risk of children being burned by sparklers and fireworks.

As a result, fire bosses will inform patients at the Sciennes hospital of the dangers.

David Lockhart, the fire brigade's community safety manager, said: "Burn injuries can have a terrible impact on young children. It is important that safety is top of the agenda."
