Fire crews put in high rise practice
FIREFIGHTERS from across the Lothians took part in a large scale exercise yesterday to test their response to a blaze in a high rise building.
Fire chiefs planned a realistic controlled scenario around Weir Court in Sighthill, a set of flats due for demolition.
Firefighters were tested on their ability to carry out critical functions, including controlling and managing the incident ground and using breathing apparatus for fire fighting.
Crews from Sighthill, Crewe Toll, Tollcross, Livingston and Liberton fire stations were involved.
