Fire crews fight inferno at Bo’ness sawmill

UP to seven fire crews have spent several hours tackling a blaze at a woodyard in Bo’ness, West Lothian.

The fire started at Alexander Anderson Sawmills, in Grangepans industrial estate on Haney’s Way shortly after 10.30pm.

Crews from Bo’ness, Falkirk, Larbert and Linlithgow raced to the scene to find a large quantity of compacted sawdust alight.

The cause of the fire is unknown and a full fire investigation will take place.

A number of local residents took to Twitter, with some posting photos of the fire. User @andyjkduncan tweeted ‘Massive fire in a wood yard opposite my flat in Bo’ness. Fire brigade on scene now, but still v dramatic.’

The editor of the Bo’ness Journal, Jackie Mitchell posted several pictures of the fire, and tweeted ‘This will burn for hours, expect disruption around Bridgeness Road Bo’ness.’
