Fingers burnt by barbecues

FIFTY people came down with food poisoning last week as good weather encouraged people to cook on barbecues.

The figures from Health Protection Scotland have shown that there were more cases in Lothian than any other health board area in Scotland.

Warnings were issued last month about cooking food thoroughly on barbecues after a rise in food poisoning cases during summer months.

The statistics, released on a weekly basis, also revealed there were three cases of viral hepatitis.
