Film review: G-Force
G-FORCE (PG) * DIRECTED BY: HOYT YEATMAN STARRING/VOICES: BIL NIGHY, ZACH GALIFIANAKIS, NICOLAS CAGE , PENELOPE CRUZ
Just what the world needs: an explosion-heavy Jerry Bruckheimer production about an elite squad of talking guinea pigs.
The ber producer fashions a metal-mashing fireworks display by pitching a special ops team of rodents against an apparently evil industrialist (played by Bill Nighy) who has equipped his new range of household appliances with chips that will enable them to synch up and take over the world – or some such nonsense.
Unfortunately because this intel has come from a team of yappy guinea pigs (voiced by Sam Rockwell, Penelope Cruz, left, and 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan), as well as their brainbox mole companion (voiced by Nicolas Cage), no-one in the FBI's Homeland security division believes them, which results in their funding suddenly being pulled, forcing them to strike out on their own and save the day. A bland distraction for the school holidays and nothing more, the now-ubiquitous 3D version isn't any better.
