Film fans say old ones are the best for action heroes
OLD favourites Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford have tied for top spot in a poll of the greatest big-screen action heroes.
The Pearl & Dean poll of 3,000 people showed many felt Willis set the standard for the action hero with his 1980s' role as John McClane in Die Hard, a role he reprised for the fourth time last year.
Ford is remembered as Han Solo in Star Wars and as the swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones, a role he has taken on for the fourth time in a film out later this month.
Third place was taken by Last Action Hero star Arnold Schwarzenegger, with 15 per cent of the vote.
Kathryn Jacob, the chief executive of Pearl & Dean said: "It seems I'm not alone in preferring the older breed of action hero – film fans agree the newer leading men can't hold a candle to the old school."
