Figures show boost to Capital care service for pensioners
IMPROVEMENTS have been made to the council's home care service, according to recent performance figures.
Between January 2008 and March, there was a 22 per cent increase in the number of people aged 65 and over receiving a weekend service. The number of people aged 65 and over receiving an evening service also increased by 27 per cent.
A similar improvement has been made in the number of people being given an intensive service – ten or more hours a week – which has risen by eight per cent since January 2008.
Councillor Paul Edie, convener for health, social care and housing, said: "This is great news. Increasing numbers of people are receiving these vital services."
