Figures off target
SO Robert Veitch thinks Scotland couldn't afford armed forces (Letters, 17 November).
He claims to have served with Nato. One can only pray he had no strategic role given his apparent ignorance of the substantial defence capabilities of the Nordic nations, all of which are a similar size to Scotland.
Given the MoD's recent acknowledgement of a 4.2 billion defence underspend in Scotland, might I suggest it is the UK which cannot afford to defend us?
