'Fight' footballer in court

A FOOTBALLER appeared in court yesterday charged with fighting at a nightclub.

Aberdeen midfielder Mark Kerr is accused of assaulting two men as well as struggling with door stewards at the city's Priory nightclub last month.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court, he denied three charges against him and was released on bail. His trial is set for November.

Kerr, 27, from Chapelhall in Airdrie, is accused of assaulting Robert Hay on 20 May.

He is further accused of struggling with door stewards who were removing him from the premises, struggling with Mr Hay, and shouting, swearing and acting aggressively.

A third charge states he assaulted another man, John Robb, on the same date by punching him to his injury.

Kerr's solicitor Jim Duncan confirmed to the court that he was pleading not guilty to the charges.

Kerr joined Aberdeen last year having previously played for Dundee United and Falkirk.
