Fife councillor's email triggers war of words
A ROW has erupted among Scottish councils, with Cosla president Pat Watters reacting angrily to "unjustified and slanderous" comments in an email from George Kay of Fife.
After the launch of a Cosla campaign against police mergers, Mr Kay, chairman of police, fire and safety at Fife Council, wrote that "a couple of appointed elected members have taken it upon themselves to abuse the authority given them in order to further their own narrow outlook".
Cllr Watters responded by saying: "I have never once, in any shape of form, "abuse(d) the authority" given to me and expect you to withdraw these unjustified and slanderous remarks."
